Hard Wreck at Knox County Fair Speedway Leaves Walden Upside Down...
(July 7, 2021) Donny Walden, of Bloomington, Illinois, continued a busy stretch of racing action on Tuesday night, July 6 with a visit to the sprawling Knox County Fair Raceway in Knoxville, Illinois. The DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour rolled into the 1/2-mile speedplant and 22 competitors were on hand to vie for the $5,000 winner's check. Donny laid down the tenth fastest lap overall during the qualifying session before grabbing the third transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the 30-lap main event from the inside of the fourth row, Donny was unfortunately caught up in a large incident on the backstretch on a lap six restart. He emerged relatively unscathed from the serious wreck, which resulted in his #1w machine upside down, but Donny was forced to retire his mangled racecar in the seventeenth finishing position. Walden Racing Celebrates Independence Day Weekend with Triple Shot
(July 5, 2021) After seeing nothing but rain last weekend, Donny Walden returned to action from July 2-4 in a tripleheader in the Land of Lincoln. On Friday night, Donny's Independence Day holiday weekend unfortunately got off to a rough start, as he broke a driveshaft and rear end during hot laps at Farmer City Raceway. The Bloomington, Illinois ace was forced to scratch from the remainder of the $1,000 to win program at the Farmer City, Illinois venue due to the mechanical gremlins.

At Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, things went much smoother for the #1w team in the weekly 'FALS Cup' shootout. Donny timed in twelfth fastest overall during qualifying, ran third in his heat race, and later moved up to eighth in the final finishing order of the $2,500 to win main event. The triple shot then concluded on our nation's birthday - July 4 - with a DIRTcar Summer Nationals tilt at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois, which shelled out a $5,000 paycheck. Donny grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his stacked heat race, but later pulled pitside prematurely in the 40-lapper and settled for a nineteenth place showing against his "Hell Tour" foes. At Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, June 19, the Bloomington, Illinois native posted the fourteenth fastest lap in Group A during DIRTcar Summer Nationals qualifying, but later suffered fuel issues during his heat race and was unable to find a way into the $10,000 to win headliner that was ultimately won by Shannon Babb. The triple shot kicked off with a special 'Thursday Night Shootout' at FALS, which shelled out $5,000 to the winner. Donny Walden tripped the clock ninth fastest overall during Super Late Model qualifying before running fourth in his loaded heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the sixth row in the 40-lap main event, Donny unfortunately suffered ignition woes, brought out an early caution flag, and retired from the contest in the nineteenth finishing position.

At Farmer City on Friday evening, Donny laid down the third quickest time during the qualifying session prior to placing second in his heat race and fourth in the $1,000 to win weekly headliner behind only victor Mike Spatola, Kevin Weaver, and Mckay Wenger. Donny Walden Spends Memorial Day Weekend at FALS & Spoon River
(May 31, 2021) Following a rain-out on Friday night at Farmer City (IL) Raceway, Walden Racing competed in a pair of Super Late Model events over the hectic Memorial Day weekend at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois and Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois. On Saturday, May 29 in the 'Randy Courtney Memorial,' Donny Walden carried the locally famous #49 in honor of Randy Courtney, who served as Crew Chief and a Car Owner for now retired driver Tom Reints. Donny posted the sixth quickest lap overall during the qualifying session prior to running third in heat race action. With passing at a premium during the course of the $2,500 to win headliner, Donny was able to move past a trio of competitors to land in the sixth finishing position at FALS in a race that was ultimately won by Jeffrey Ledford.

At Spoon River on Sunday, May 30, the MARS Racing Series roared into the Land of Lincoln venue and a $5,000 payday was up for grabs. Donny clicked off the fifth fastest time during qualifying and finished third in his stacked heat race behind only prelim winner Tanner English and runner-up Brandon Sheppard. The Bloomington, Illinois ace then rolled off from the outside of the fourth row in the 40-lapper and ran amongst the top ten through much of the distance until slipping over the turn two banking. Unfortunately losing several spots due to the mishap, Donny was still able to salvage a twelfth place performance against the strong field of competitors. Walden Wins First Feature of 2021 Friday Night at Farmer City Raceway!
(May 23, 2021) Donny Walden and his #1w team celebrated in victory lane for the first time in 2021 on Friday night, May 21 at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! After posting the second quickest time overall in DIRTcar Super Late Model qualifying and winning his heat race, Donny started the weekly feature event from the outside of the front row. Battling with fellow Bloomington, Illinois driver Eric Smith, Donny grabbed the point shortly after the halfway mark in the contest and went on to bag the $1,000 winner's check ahead of a top five that consisted of Eric Smith, Jeffrey Ledford, Jeremy Conaway, and Rickey Frankel. Following the win, he was quick to dedicate the triumph to late crew chief Randy Courtney, who passed away earlier this year.

"This new MB Customs car was quick all evening and I knew we had a car capable of winning in the early laps of the race. It was great to get a win for Randy this early in the season, as I know he would be proud of what we are doing," quoted Walden.

Walden Racing then ventured to Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, May 22 for a 'FALS Cup' showdown, which once again boasted a $2,500 payday. Donny stopped the clock third quickest overall during Super Late Model qualifying before a three-car invert for the heat races helped lead to a third place prelim showing. After rolling off from the inside of the fifth row in the 30-lap headliner, Donny was unfortunately swept up in a wreck on the opening lap and suffered heavy sheet metal damage. However, he was able to soldier on in the contest - despite steering woes - and eventually salvaged a steady fifth place performance behind only victor Mike Spatola, Jeffrey Ledford, Eric Smith, and Mckay Wenger. Donny Walden Turns Heads Against Stellar Field in FALS Spring Showcase!
(May 16, 2021) A pair of lucrative MARS Racing Series contests lured the #1w team back to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois over the May 14-15 weekend. On Friday night in a $10,000 to win throwdown at Farmer City dubbed as the 'Farmer City 74,' Donny Walden clicked off the seventh fastest lap in Group B during time trials before slipping back to fifth in his loaded heat race. Unfortunately, Donny was then involved in a skirmish on the opening lap of the B-Main with another competitor and lost several positions, which forced him to miss out on the 74-lap feature that was ultimately won by Brandon Sheppard.

At FALS on Saturday evening, a whopping $15,000 top prize was up for grabs for the Super Late Models in the 'Spring Showcase.' Donny laid down the ninth quickest time in Group A during qualifying before blasting past a trio of competitors in his heat race to nab the second transfer spot behind only prelim winner Brian Shirley. After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the 50-lap headliner, the Bloomington, Illinois ace battled hard for a top five showing and was eventually paid for a strong seventh place performance behind only victor Tanner English, Dennis Erb, Jr. Brian Shirley, Brandon Sheppard, Ryan Unzicker, and Ryan Gustin. Finishing behind his #1w at the checkers to round out the top ten were national stars Shannon Babb, Billy Moyer, Jr., and Chase Junghans!

"Saturday's performance was a much needed rebound for my team and I after our struggles we faced on Friday," commented Walden following the MARS doubleheader weekend. "This new MB Customs car was in the race track all night and we held our own. It felt very refreshing to be up front running and mixing it up with those caliber of drivers." At Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, Donny timed in third quickest in qualifying and secured a heat race triumph before the rain hit and unfortunately postponed the $2,500 to win 'FALS Cup' main event.

“I’m really starting to get a good feel for the car of what it likes and doesn’t like and adapting my driving style to it.
