Walden Battles with Summer Nationals
Foes at Peoria Speedway
17, 2021) Walden Racing made their first appearance
of 2021 with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour on Wednesday night,
June 16 at Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois. Donny Walden clicked
off the seventh fastest lap in Group A during time trials before
grabbing the fourth transfer spot through his heat race. After
rolling off from the inside of the seventh row in the $5,000 to
win headliner, Donny fought hard to move forward during the caution-free
contest. However, the Bloomington, Illinois ace found himself
in the sixteenth finishing position following the forty green
flag circuits. Full results from last night at Peoria Speedway
can be accessed online at www.dirtcarsummernationals.com.
Top Five for Walden at Farmer City;
Rain Washes Out FALS Cup
13, 2021) Donny Walden and his #1w team headed
back to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury
Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois over the June 11-12 weekend. On
Friday night at FCR, Donny knocked down the third quickest lap
overall during DIRTcar Super Late Model qualifying before placing
second in his heat race. After starting third on the grid in the
weekly headliner, Donny wound up fifth at the unfurling of the
checkered flag behind only $1,000 victor Mckay Wenger, Mike Spatola,
Eric Smith, and Kolby Vandenbergh. Saturday's $2,500 to win 'FALS
Cup' showdown at Fairbury was then unfortunately washed out. Full
results from Friday's stop to Farmer City can be accessed online
Walden's Tripleheader Weekend Headlined
by Farmer City Top Five
6, 2021) The Walden Racing team kicked off the
month of June in a trio of events from June 3-5 at Fairbury Speedway
in Fairbury, Illinois and Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City,
Illinois. The triple shot kicked off with a special 'Thursday
Night Shootout' at FALS, which shelled out $5,000 to the winner.
Donny Walden tripped the clock ninth fastest overall during Super
Late Model qualifying before running fourth in his loaded heat
race. After rolling off from the outside of the sixth row in the
40-lap main event, Donny unfortunately suffered ignition woes,
brought out an early caution flag, and retired from the contest
in the nineteenth finishing position.
At Farmer City on Friday evening, Donny laid down the third quickest
time during the qualifying session prior to placing second in
his heat race and fourth in the $1,000 to win weekly headliner
behind only victor Mike Spatola, Kevin Weaver, and Mckay Wenger.
Back at Fairbury on Saturday for a $2,500 to win 'FALS Cup' program,
the Bloomington, Illinois ace timed in ninth fastest during qualifying,
ran third in his heat race, and later earned a ninth place performance
in the feature. Full results from the tripleheader can be viewed

Donny Walden Spends Memorial Day
Weekend at FALS & Spoon River
31, 2021) Following a rain-out on Friday night
at Farmer City (IL) Raceway, Walden Racing competed in a pair
of Super Late Model events over the hectic Memorial Day weekend
at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois and Spoon River Speedway
in Banner, Illinois. On Saturday, May 29 in the 'Randy Courtney
Memorial,' Donny Walden carried the locally famous #49 in honor
of Randy Courtney, who served as Crew Chief and a Car Owner for
now retired driver Tom Reints. Donny posted the sixth quickest
lap overall during the qualifying session prior to running third
in heat race action. With passing at a premium during the course
of the $2,500 to win headliner, Donny was able to move past a
trio of competitors to land in the sixth finishing position at
FALS in a race that was ultimately won by Jeffrey Ledford.
At Spoon River on Sunday, May 30, the MARS Racing Series roared
into the Land of Lincoln venue and a $5,000 payday was up for
grabs. Donny clicked off the fifth fastest time during qualifying
and finished third in his stacked heat race behind only prelim
winner Tanner English and runner-up Brandon Sheppard. The Bloomington,
Illinois ace then rolled off from the outside of the fourth row
in the 40-lapper and ran amongst the top ten through much of the
distance until slipping over the turn two banking. Unfortunately
losing several spots due to the mishap, Donny was still able to
salvage a twelfth place performance against the strong field of
competitors. Complete results from the holiday weekend action

Walden Wins First Feature of 2021
Friday Night at Farmer City Raceway!
23, 2021) Donny Walden and his #1w team celebrated
in victory lane for the first time in 2021 on Friday night, May
21 at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! After posting
the second quickest time overall in DIRTcar Super Late Model qualifying
and winning his heat race, Donny started the weekly feature event
from the outside of the front row. Battling with fellow Bloomington,
Illinois driver Eric Smith, Donny grabbed the point shortly after
the halfway mark in the contest and went on to bag the $1,000
winner's check ahead of a top five that consisted of Eric Smith,
Jeffrey Ledford, Jeremy Conaway, and Rickey Frankel. Following
the win, he was quick to dedicate the triumph to late crew chief
Randy Courtney, who passed away earlier this year.
"This new MB Customs car was quick all evening and I knew
we had a car capable of winning in the early laps of the race.
It was great to get a win for Randy this early in the season,
as I know he would be proud of what we are doing," quoted
Walden Racing then ventured to Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury,
Illinois on Saturday evening, May 22 for a 'FALS Cup' showdown,
which once again boasted a $2,500 payday. Donny stopped the clock
third quickest overall during Super Late Model qualifying before
a three-car invert for the heat races helped lead to a third place
prelim showing. After rolling off from the inside of the fifth
row in the 30-lap headliner, Donny was unfortunately swept up
in a wreck on the opening lap and suffered heavy sheet metal damage.
However, he was able to soldier on in the contest - despite steering
woes - and eventually salvaged a steady fifth place performance
behind only victor Mike Spatola, Jeffrey Ledford, Eric Smith,
and Mckay Wenger. Full results from both weekend shows can be
viewed online at www.farmercityracing.com

Donny Walden Turns Heads Against
Stellar Field in FALS Spring Showcase!
16, 2021) A pair of lucrative MARS Racing Series
contests lured the #1w team back to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer
City, Illinois and Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois over
the May 14-15 weekend. On Friday night in a $10,000 to win throwdown
at Farmer City dubbed as the 'Farmer City 74,' Donny Walden clicked
off the seventh fastest lap in Group B during time trials before
slipping back to fifth in his loaded heat race. Unfortunately,
Donny was then involved in a skirmish on the opening lap of the
B-Main with another competitor and lost several positions, which
forced him to miss out on the 74-lap feature that was ultimately
won by Brandon Sheppard.
At FALS on Saturday evening, a whopping $15,000 top prize was
up for grabs for the Super Late Models in the 'Spring Showcase.'
Donny laid down the ninth quickest time in Group A during qualifying
before blasting past a trio of competitors in his heat race to
nab the second transfer spot behind only prelim winner Brian Shirley.
After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the 50-lap
headliner, the Bloomington, Illinois ace battled hard for a top
five showing and was eventually paid for a strong seventh place
performance behind only victor Tanner English, Dennis Erb, Jr.
Brian Shirley, Brandon Sheppard, Ryan Unzicker, and Ryan Gustin.
Finishing behind his #1w at the checkers to round out the top
ten were national stars Shannon Babb, Billy Moyer, Jr., and Chase
"Saturday's performance was a much needed rebound for my
team and I after our struggles we faced on Friday," commented
Walden following the MARS doubleheader weekend. "This new
MB Customs car was in the race track all night and we held our
own. It felt very refreshing to be up front running and mixing
it up with those caliber of drivers." View full results from
both Land of Lincoln venues at www.marsracingseries.com.

Walden Records Runner-Up Friday
at Farmer City; Sees Rain Saturday
9, 2021) The Walden Racing team returned to a
pair of familiar ovals over the May 7-8 weekend and Donny Walden
was able to record his best finish so far in the young 2021 racing
season! On Friday night at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City,
Illinois, Donny stopped the clock sixth fastest overall during
the DIRTcar Super Late Model qualifying session prior to placing
second in his heat race. The Bloomington, Illinois ace then moved
up two spots during the course of the $1,000 to win weekly feature
to nab an impressive runner-up performance behind only victor
McKay Wenger. At Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois
on Saturday evening, Donny timed in third quickest in qualifying
and secured a heat race triumph before the rain hit and unfortunately
postponed the $2,500 to win 'FALS Cup' main event.
“I’m really starting to get a good feel for the car
of what it likes and doesn’t like and adapting my driving
style to it. My team and I are really looking forward to next
weekend after the speed this new MB Customs showed these past
two nights," quoted Walden. Full results from both weekend
stops can be viewed online at www.farmercityracing.com

Racing Community Mourns Randy Courtney's
15, 2021) Known for building championship-caliber
quality race drivers, the Illinois racing community mourns in
the passing of Randy Courtney. Courtney, 59 years old and from
Bloomington, passed away on Sunday in his sleep. Being involved
in racing his entire life, from driving to turning wrenches and
being a car owner, Courtney helped to shape many a driver's career.
Working with drivers like Tom Rients, Mark Anderson, Eric Smith,
Ryan Dauber, Daren Friedman, Bobby Pierce and, recently, Donny
Walden, he has been part of numerous race wins and championships.
Bloomington’s Donny Walden had the pleasure of having Courtney
as a member of his team for the last three seasons. Driving an
outdated chassis, Walden and the team got the most out of the
car and were prepared to make strides for the 2021 season.
“When I got the phone call from Ryan on his dad’s
passing, I felt as if a part of me died, too, that morning,”
an emotional Walden said. “Randy just wasn’t my crew
chief over these last three years, he was my driving coach, my
motivator; but most of all, a close friend.
“We all worked hard this offseason on putting a brand new
car together. With all his wisdom and experience he brought, it
just can’t be replaced. He had a unique style on how he
motivated his drivers over his career. He would push you to your
limit because not only was he the most competitive person that
I have ever known, but he truly cared and wanted you to perform
at your highest potential. We had very high hopes going into this
season together and even though it’s going to be tough without
him, I know he would want us to push on and get the job done.
That is what I intend to do in his honor.”
Courtney, an auto broker by trade, is survived by his wife, Glenda,
son, Ryan, and step-sons, Connor and Colin Nolan and two grandchildren.

Walden Jumps Behind Wheel of MB
Customs Machine for 2021 Campaign!
1, 2021) After the last several seasons of piloting
the same family-owned MasterSbilt racecar, Donny Walden and his
#1w team were able to update their program over the off-season
with the purchase of a brand-new MB Customs racecar. Prepared
with the help of fellow Bloomington, Illinois driver Jason Feger,
who is the proprietor of Hustler Speed Shop, Donny is excited
about the car and ready for his 2021 campaign to begin.
"It has been several years since I have been this excited
to get back racing again," quoted Walden on obtaining the
new racecar. "For the first time in over a decade, we are
going to fire off with a brand new car, a fresh engine under the
hood, and a new shock program!"
Walden Racing unfortunately came up just shy in getting the new
ride ready for this weekend's annual 'Illini 100' at Farmer City
Raceway. However, the team plans to start their 2021 season next
Friday, April 9 in a weekly DIRTcar Super Late Model program at
the Farmer City, Illinois oval. They are then slated to invade
Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday, April 10, as
the MARS Racing Series will preside over a $5,000 to win shootout.
